My Cambridge Experience

Would I have traded it for anything?

Growing up as a child, I spent nights dreaming of studying at Cambridge University some day, but was pretty aware of the herculean tasks ahead. This dream propelled me to study really hard as a student in Bolade Grammar School, Oshodi, and also as an undergrad at the University of Ibadan. Having achieved excellence at the University of Ibadan, I felt convinced of actualizing this dream.

September 17, 2013 would remain memorable to me. I set feet on the soil of Cambridge and yes, it was just as dreamt. The weather was strange and was worse than imagined. The buildings were picturesque, something from the movies, and yeah, the life was different from what I was used to.

However, whatever failings or misgivings or excitements disappeared as soon as lectures started. I was in a classroom with the best students from 85 countries, being taught by the best professors. I was reading books, articles, materials written and being read by the best minds there could be. I fell in love with Cambridge, the opportunities available to me, and the cultural exchanges. I made friends across all climes, experienced new cultures and yeah, I became more knowledgeable.

Cambridge offered and gave me joy, re-invigoration, knowledge, intelligence, and helped me actualize my dream. I remain forever grateful.
