The foundation was registered as a corporate body on 17th January, 2000 with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja. It was launched and presented to the public on 21st March, 2000.

The affairs of the Foundation are conducted by men and women of reputable character and social values, while the Board is presided over by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is the Founder and President.

At the Foundation, our activities from inception have been geared towards the wholesome development of the youth within the family setting. We at NEF believe that children who are encouraged and supported by their families do better. Guardians, mentors, role models and the community are not left out in the process of moulding the lives our youth. We focus on leadership development by creating learning and development opportunities for the youth. We try to deliver a unique value-based approach to non-formal education by providing memorable experiences for the youths.

Our programmes include providing youth development centres, organising intellectual, mental and physical competitions which help inculcate the habit and culture of healthy rivalry for better academic and social performance.

Among the Foundation’s success stories since its establishment in 2000 is the annual Spelling Bee competition, in which the star attraction for the overall winner is the opportunity to be ‘Governor for One Day’. The Foundation has also initiated various programmes including the Maggi Junior Chef Competition, the 30-hours Compulsory Community Service in Public Schools, Advocacy Campaigns on HIV/AIDS to Artisans, Market Women, Mechanics and Drivers in Lagos State, amongst others with the overriding objectives of encouraging the wholesome development of the youth and women for a better and brighter future.

NEF has been and will continue to partner with other organisations and agencies to achieve its goals and objectives.
